Federation of European Business in India

The Federation of European Business in India (FEBI) is the official Chamber representing EU businesses in India, supported by the EU Delegation in India and the Embassies of EU Member States. FEBI's mission is to advocate for the collective interests of European companies, strengthen trade and investment ties, and foster economic cooperation between the EU and India.

As a unified, independent, and influential voice for European businesses, FEBI serves as a credible intermediary between government and industry, promoting pro-business policies and practical solutions. FEBI’s efforts aim to deepen collaboration and drive economic growth, reinforcing strategic EU-India partnership.

FEBI currently comprises member companies from various EU member states representing a wide range of sectors, including Aerospace & Defence, Automotive, Agri-Food Products, Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals, Consumer and Luxury Goods, Banking & Financial Services, Telecom, Technology & Digital Services, Machinery and Capital Goods, Energy and Renewables, and Transportation and Logistics. The organisation continues to expand its membership, creating a robust network of European businesses operating in India.

1. Position Papers

  • Charting a Course of Future Growth for EU Industry in India - The FEBI position paper identifies key challenges for EU businesses in India, including high tariffs, non-tariff barriers, procurement policies, and customs regulations.

2. Input Papers

  • Technical Barriers to Trade - The input paper addresses the concern of EU businesses in India on the urgent need for mechanisms to address the overarching and operational challenges posed by the new and existing technical regulations
  • Taxes and Tariffs - The paper puts across inputs and recommendations across trade policy, ease of doing business, and CBAM

3. Newsletter(s)

  • Bi-monthly (once in 2 months) newsletters curated by the FEBI Secretariat for members. FEBI has released 2 newsletters till now, in November 2024 and January 2025.

  • Interactive Meeting with the Delegation of the European Parliament’s Committee on Internal Market and Consumer Protection (IMCO), 7th of January 2025
  • Roundtable Discussion with Ms. Kerstin Jorna, Director-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship, and SMEs (DG GROW) (24 January 2025)
  • Interactive Session with Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Hon’ble Minister for Railways, lnformation and Broadcasting, Electronics & Information Technology, Government of India (January 15, 2025, New Delhi) - Sector-specific inputs with a focus on investments, collaboration and support sought from the Government of India
  • Interactive Session on BIS and Quality Control Orders (November 8, 2024, Delhi): This session addressed EU businesses' questions regarding notifications and implementation of Quality Control Orders (QCOs) and related BIS certification schemes.
  • Meeting with EU Chief Negotiator Christopher Kiener (September 26, 2024): A discussion focusing on the India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations.
  • Interaction with EU Chief Negotiator Christophe Kiener (January 18, 2024, New Delhi): A roundtable where approximately 20 EU companies discussed the upcoming Free Trade Agreement between the EU and India, addressing potential challenges.
  • CEO Lunch with EU Ambassador H.E. Hervé Delphin (December 6, 2023, New Delhi): FEBI hosted a lunch for about 30 CEOs from prominent EU companies in India to engage with the newly appointed EU Ambassador, discussing priorities such as the comprehensive Free Trade Agreement and investment protection.
  • India and European Union in 2030: Building a Closer Economic Relationship (November 22, 2023, New Delhi): An event focusing on strengthening economic ties between India and the EU.
  • Round Table Interaction with Executive Vice-President and Commissioner for Trade Mr. Valdis Dombrovskis (August 23, 2023, New Delhi): A discussion with senior European industry leaders on enhancing EU-India trade relations.
